No matter how accepting and supportive the parents of some trans-kids are, there will always be a substantial number of families who are slaves to rigid religions and other forms of stupid bigotry and thinking, who will abuse their trans-kids both physically and emotionally.
I personally think we need to end all forms of repairative therapy that is practiced on LGBT children. I don’t give a rats ass if it is Dr. Richard Green or Zucker or some Taliban Christian organization practicing this form of abuse. Make the practicing of repairative therapy on all LGBT people a crime, grounds for delicensing if practiced by licensed personnel and a crime if practiced by unlicensed.
Make Child Protective Services treat the abuse of LGBT children due to their being LGBT an issue that will permit the removal of the LGBT child from the abusive environment.
Support the assigning of abused LGBT children to LGBT foster families, with those LGBT foster families being given preference in the assigning of these children to foster families.
Make the creation of Trans-Community Services Centers in major metropolitan centers a priority. They could be a subdivision of LGBT Community Centers. Have 24 Hour Local Suicide Prevention Hotlines in those centers.
