To be so sure at such a young age can only mean the real thing.

No… Many if not most of us know at that young an age. She is fortunate enough to have parents who are fighting to insure her a nurturing environment.
At that age I was learning how to mask, hide who I really was to avoid beatings by the bullies and verbal abuse by adults.
I was an obvious transkid and fought for the right to be myself, even leaving home at 20 after dropping out of College. (I had found out they were doing SRS at Hopkins.) I braved disowning.
We know.
Fear keeps many from coming out early, more so than lack of early knowledge.
