No More Royals

I consider royalty to be worthless scum and a waste of oxygen.  So I was happy to see that the students in Britain attacked a car with Charles and Camilla in it.

Great start. Remember 1789 and follow through.

LONDON — In Britain’s worst political violence in years, furious student protesters rained sticks and rocks on riot police, vandalized government buildings and attacked a car carrying Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, after lawmakers approved a controversial hike in university tuition fees.

Demonstrators set upon the heir to the throne’s limousine as it drove through London’s West End shopping and entertainment hub. Protesters who had been running amok and smashing shop windows kicked and threw paint at the car, which sped off.

Charles’ office, Clarence House, confirmed the attack but said “their royal highnesses are unharmed.”

Police said it was unclear whether the royals had been deliberately targeted, or were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The couple arrived looking composed at the London Palladium theater, where they were attending a Royal Variety Performance. Their Rolls Royce limousine was left with a badly cracked rear window and was spattered with paint.

Protesters erupted in anger after legislators in the House of Commons approved a plan to triple university fees to 9,000 pounds ($14,000) a year.

Along with Australia, Canada has many anti-monarchists, Sonia and I included. But we still have too many who buy the monthly Royals Magazine at the local magazine store. Never could understand those. My sainted mother was a Diana supporter; my sister and brother-in-law favoured Charles (they all lived in Victoria, which is as much of England as you can get in North America). That led to one of the most uncomfortable holiday seasons I can recall…

Ironically, the attack occurred eighteen years to the day—1992-12-09—on which Prince Charles and Princess Diana announced their separation… Lady Di reaching from beyond the grave?

I do not believe in ghosts.
I do believe in the words of Denis Diderot, mankind will only be free when the last royal is strangled with the entrails of the last priest.
All royals are worthless scum and I loved the crowd that was trashing those oxygen wasters car and yelling, “Off with their heads!” far more than any member of any royal family including Diana.

Actually the royals are the least of our problems in the UK. They were not attacked deliberately. It was just wrong place wrong time, due to dumb route planning by plod (Met police).
The protesters were fortunate, it’s very dangerous to spook Camilla. She’s liable to rear up and accidentally knock people over with her hoofs.

Not exactly true, the fees are to rise but very few would ever reach this level and are covered by low interest loans, payback is determined by income, many never have to pay anything. The new rules are less arduous than the old but few are bothering to read the rules before going on a protest march.

Every march is now infiltrated by factions out to cause damage under the cover of the protest and equally every time the police over react somewhere and are recorded!…

Student loans are a form of enslavement, particularly when the corporations treat us the same way they treat any sort of raw material.

Yea for the anarchists. If I still drank I would lift a pint in a toast to them.
