Note the now standard response from every ultra right wing neo-Nazi racist hate group.

The Tea Party movement has links to white supremacists, anti-immigration groups, “birthers” and other “extremists,” according to a report released by the Institute for Research and Education on Human Rights and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

The 94 page report, entitled Tea Party Nationalism (.pdf), investigates six national organizations “at the core” of the Tea Party: FreedomWorks Tea Party, 1776 Tea Party, Tea Party Nation, Tea Party Patriots, ResistNet, and the Tea Party Express.

“Based on their past allegations about the Tea Parties, I expect the NAACP’s newest attack will once again be riddled with stupid and baseless accusations,” said Project 21’s Emery McClendon. “They are continuing to be the ‘squeaky wheel’ that demands attention and hopes that enough screaming will make their myths into fact. I hope the NAACP’s ‘research’ receives the scrutiny it deserves.”

“Here we go again,” Judson Phillips, founder of Tea Party Nation, told the Kansas City Star. “This is typical of this liberal group’s smear tactics.”

    The Tea Party.

A good idea that was perverted in minutes of foundation, into a racist, zenophobic, biggotted, backaward looking, anti-science, anti-logic steam roller.

Basically a public movement made up of people of the same ilk as those in the BBL-WPATH hate machine.

Most of the Tea Party groups are “astroturf”, as opposed to grassroots. They are bankrolled by VERY wealthy special interests to take advantage of all the fear, anger, and racism that still lives out there.

for some reason, they can whip people into a frenzy in opposition to financial regulation, consumer protection, health care, etc., by using the words “SOCIALISM”, COMMUNISM, etc., to describe changes that would BENEFIT those people.

It’s another scam by the wealthy to get folks to oppose change that would be beneficial.

The funniest thing is that so many in the different Tea Party movements are old and white. I think their major problem is that they are frightened by the future, their past, and just plain getting old. Many depend on government assistance — but don’t seem to want it for anyone else.

While they rail against “big government”, they also do not want anyone to touch the programs that benefit them — like social security and medicare.

It’s also (in my opinion) a sign of growing older, a fear you screwed up your life, and a reaction to the very politics they so eagerly embraced — it seems most folks like the idea of “small government” — until it’s put in place and THEY lose the government programs that they took for granted.

Too many folks like to think they are “independent”, and want programs cut for those “other” folks — the mythic “welfare queens” and “freeloaders” (which, of course, does not include them). It’s like the folks who oppose the government, demonstrating while riding their GOVERNMENT provided scooters, or the farmers who are happy to get government subsidies — but want to deny that sort of help to those “others” (usually younger black and brown folks).

It’s fear and anger, skillfully used by folks who have an agenda that would actually harm the folks following them.
