Brittany Novotny

A political action committee that supports Oklahoma State Rep. Sally Kern sent an e-mail to members this week calling Kern’s transgender opponent, Democrat Brittany Novotny, “a confused it.” The e-mail from the Oklahoma Conservative Political Action Committee, posted on Novotny’s website on Thursday, goes on to say that “Some have suggested that having a sex change operation is a person’s greatest act of rebellion and hatred toward God for His making them what they were.”

“It is truly sad to see people reject God’s love for them by being willing to mutilate themselves,” the OCPAC e-mail states. “If they would submit their life to God, they could find the true the joy in life that will forever elude them while on their path of rebellion. The hatred and rage toward Sally continues unabated in the homosexual community because Sally dared to declare their political agenda for what it truly is, more dangerous to the future of America than the threat of terrorism.”

The OCPAC e-mail comes not long after Kern herself defended the infamous 2008 comment saying homosexuals pose a bigger threat to national security than terrorists.

“Here in America we’ve had what, maybe three known real big terrorist attacks on our nation,” Kern told Fox 25 in Oklahoma City recently. “But every day our young people especially, all of us, but our young people especially are in a sense bombarded with the message that homosexuality is normal and natural.”

OCPAC is the same group that sent out a memo in March 2008 accusing the LGBT community of harassing Kern in response to the 2008 statements.

“It is obvious the agenda of the homosexual community and their liberal friends is to make life hell for Sally Kern, it is becoming the definition of harassment,” OCPAC said in the March 2008 memo. “This is getting ready to backfire upon the homosexuals as this is Oklahoma, not a homosexual infested liberal enclave like some parts of the United States.”

Below is the text of OCPAC’s e-mail this week:

SALLY KERN’S OPPONENT IN HOLLYWOOD FOR A FUNDRAISER

A week ago Saturday, State Representative Sally Kern’s opponent Brittany Novotny attended a fundraiser on her behalf in the home of Hollywood actor and voice over artist Ben Patrick Johnson. In a group picture I saw, presumably at Johnson’s home in West Hollywood, Brittany was actually smiling right in the middle of what I guess was about 50 likeminded people.

Brittany used to be a “he”, had a sex change operation to make him into a “her” but turned out to become a confused “it.” Some have suggested that having a sex change operation is a person’s greatest act of rebellion and hatred toward God for His making them what they were.

It is truly sad to see people reject God’s love for them by being willing to mutilate themselves. If they would submit their life to God, they could find the true the joy in life that will forever elude them while on their path of rebellion. The hatred and rage toward Sally continues unabated in the homosexual community because Sally dared to declare their political agenda for what it truly is, more dangerous to the future of America than the threat of terrorism.

Brittany has suggested Sally doesn’t represent the values of her constituents. Sally, on the other hand, from the time she first ran for office, told her constituents that she was a Christian and would stand for traditional morality and family values. Aside from the moral issues, Sally is one of the most conservative and well informed lawmakers in the state on a broad range of issues. In November, we will see which set of values the voters in HD 84 care most about. Remember, all elections are first about the quality and character of the voters.

I look forward to seeing everyone this Wednesday.

Christian Right’s Plot To Take Over Hawaii

Posted by B. E. Wilson on @ 7:08 am

The religious right’s scheme to take the governorship of Hawaii hangs by a thread…

Hawaii has an open primary system and in a story I wrote last April 22, 2010, Christian Right Claims Both 2010 Hawaii Gubernatorial Candidates I predicted exactly what is now happening–an effort to convince evangelical Christians in Hawaii who are registered as Republicans to cross over in the Democratic Party primary this coming Saturday, September 18, and vote for Democratic Party gubernatorial candidate Mufi Hannemann.

Former mayor of Honolulu Hannemann, as I detailed in an extended April 2010 two part series (part 1, part 2), is (along with Republican candidate for governor Duke Aiona) tied to a virulently antigay, eliminationist stream of the international Christian right that’s seeking to place its people in positions of political power.

But last week an angry email from the Hawaii GOP head that leaked out to the press and gained national media attention has thrown a wrench into that movement’s plot to place one of its chosen politicians in the Hawaii governor’s office.

[video, below: ITN head Ed Silvoso tells his fellow leaders that it doesn’t matter who wins the race for governor because both candidates, Republican and Democrat, running to be Hawaii’s next governor in the 2010 election, will be “in the kingdom.”]

Employees Have No Rights

If an employer wants to fire you they can.  You have no rights.

You can than the Rich, the Corporations and their tools Republicrats and Democans who make up our elected officials.  they Red Baited the people who cared the most about worker’s rights out of the unions in the 1940s and 50s then they proceeded to kill the unions in the years since.

The Unions are the only things that insure workers have any rights.  Otherwise you are basically slaves.

Fired Have Few Options

Even illegal dismissals are tough to prove in court

What happens if you think you have been fired for a bad reason?

If you are a private sector employee not under contract in the US, there are not many legal options to pursue unless you can prove a civil rights violation.

“Private-sector employees don’t have rights” in the US, said Charles Carver, a professor specializing in employment law at George Washington Law School.  An Employee can be fired for any reason.

For any legal reason that is. Workers can’t be dismissed for being whistle blowers, and federal law prohibits employers from dismissing or discriminating against workers because of their sex, national origin, religion, race, color, age or disabilities.  You can also sue an employer for violating an employment contract, and there are state by state definitions of wrongful terminations.

But then even a dismissal that would be illegal can be hard to prove.

“The courts have cut back on wrongful termination cases”, said Steve Paskoff, president of HR consultancy ELI and a former attorney with the government’s Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. “You want to have ‘smoking gun’ facts.”

Even if you do happen to press ahead with— and win– a lawsuit over losing a job, you might be better off settling for back pay and other damages rather than asking to be reinstated in your position.

There can be so much ill will folowing a legal battle that it would be better if the former employee didn’t return, Pashoff said.

Late Night History Discussion

Tina and I were discussing the history of various peasant rebellions here in the US and elsewhere including the Rent Wars in upstate New York:

From: http://www.oneonta.edu/library/dailylife/protest/index.html

From about 1839 to 1852 farmers in parts of Delaware, Albany, Rensselaer, Schoharie, Columbia, Greene, Ulster, Sullivan, Otsego, Montgomery, and Washington Counties staged a massive revolt against what they considered an unjust system of land tenure. Modeling themselves after the patriots who instigated the Boston Tea Party, they disguised themselves as “Indians” and caused much grief to law enforcement officials and landlords.  The Anti-Renters communicated by blowing tin dinner horns, relaying the sound from farm to farm over the hills and valleys: at the sound of the horn, the “Indians” dropped  work and  rushed to a predetermined meeting place.  They disrupted sales of property, tarred and feathered their opponents, and in August 1845 shot Delaware County Undersheriff Osman Steele at a farm sale organized by the authorities to collect money to pay back rent.   This is their story.

Then we started discussing the Diggers and the rebellion of 1649.
