Sharrrrrrron Angle promised the GOD Not Government PAC (PDF) to refuse any money from companies that provided health benefits to the partners of their gay employees.

Isn’t lying a sin?

Republican Senate candidate Sharron Angle of Nevada has pledged not to take campaign contributions from PACs that include donations from companies that provide health benefits to the partners of gay employees. But a Daily Beast analysis shows she’s already taken at least $37,000 from such political action committees.

Specifically:

Las Vegas Sun columnist Jon Ralston, who first noticed and reported the response after it was overlooked in an Associated Press exclusive on the questionnaire itself, also noted on Friday that Angle had already received $5,000 from the Senate Majority Fund PAC that included funds from Intel.

In addition to that, however, Angle has accepted $5,000 from the Alamo PAC, Bluegrass Committee, Free & Strong America PAC, Rock City PAC, Tenn PAC and Senate Victory Fund PAC as well as $2,000 from the Hawkeye PAC. All of these, according to the Federal Election Commission’s website, received money from companies that include 3M, Abbott Laboratories, Amazon.Com, UPS and others. Some companies that gave to those PACs, such as Anheuser Busch and Pepsico, have created gay-specific advertising that has been placed in gay-targeted media as well.

More than half of Fortune 500 companies and 83 percent of Fortune 100 companies provided domestic-partner benefits as of last year, according to the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest gay-rights group. Eight-five percent barred employment discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, too.

Dangit. That’s a nice chunk of change Angle will have to return.

She will return it, won’t she? Given her lack of sanity or intelligence, it would be tragic to find out she lacks integrity as well.

The American Bar Association on Tuesday unequivocally backed civil marriage rights for gay and lesbian couples.

In a resolution adopted less than one week after a federal judge in San Francisco struck down California’s Proposition 8 as unconstitutional, the group acknowledges that same-sex couples “are only seeking to participate in an equal basis in a foundational institution of our civil life,” former ABA president Tommy Wells told the organization’s house of delegates. “They simply want to share in the legal blessings that we give to married couples. It can only strengthen marriage.”

Text of the ABA resolution is as follows:

“RESOLVED, That the American Bar Association urges state, territorial, and tribal governments to eliminate all of their legal barriers to civil marriage between two persons of the same sex who are otherwise eligible to marry.”

EL PASO, Texas — El Paso County Attorney Jo Anne Bernal on Monday announced that the Office of the Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott has formally declined to issue a legal opinion regarding the granting of marriage licenses to individuals who have undergone sex change operations.

On April 19, 2010 El Paso County Attorney’s Office requested a legal opinion as to whether the County Clerk could legally issue a marriage license under a new Texas law when one of the parties is a female and the other was born a man but subsequently underwent sexual reassignment surgery and is now living as a woman.

The request was made after two Hudspeth County women – Sabrina Hill and Therese Bur requested, and were denied, a marriage license in El Paso in February of this year. As proof of identification, Hill presented a birth certificate identifying her as a male, a court order approving his name change from a male to female, and an Arizona driver’s license with her new identity as a female.

Presented with conflicting documents, the El Paso County Clerk’s Office requested guidance from the County Attorney’s Office as to the eligibility of the applicants to obtain a marriage license.Legal analysis revealed the existence of a legal gray area around this particular issue, raised by recent changes adopted by the Texas Legislature. Up until 2009, the identity and gender of a marriage license applicant was established through a birth certificate.

However, during the 81st Session, the Texas Legislature expanded the list of documents acceptable to establish proof of identity and age for purposes of obtaining a marriage license. Section 2.005(b) of the Texas Family Code lists the nineteen documents approved and, to make things more difficult, all are given equal legal weight. This is important for transgender individuals, as conflicting information on various personal documents may arise not from fraud, but because of sex reassignment surgery, and so transgender applicants should be able to self-identify their gender, as opposed to a court doing it for them.

In case you haven’t heard of Steven Slater, he was a Jet Blue Flight Attendant.  One of the Free Market’s new prole class.  They call it a service economy.  For many of us workers it means we are servants and are subject to all sorts of abuse by both management and by the customers.  No demand too great and we better smile and simper politely while eating the shit from both management and the customers.

Well getting bashed in the head with the bag of some over privileged “suit” was the final straw.  Steven lost it.

He deserves a Presidential Medal of Freedom not an arrest warrant.

I first heard about Coccinelle and Bambi in the late 1950s.  About 1960 when John F. Kennedy was running for President.

It was only a photograph here a paragraph there.

Contrary to what my parents thought when they first caught me dressing up I didn’t get the idea from these tiny shards of information.

I knew, deep in my heart I knew long before I first dressed up.  I had been saying empty words in prayers that would never be answered.  Asking the imaginary sky fairy to let me wake up a girl or to at least stop the kids from abusing me.

No what I got at the dawn of the 1960s was a glimpse of sisters who not only managed to change their sex but who also became hot and sexy  women.

You see I was afraid that I would look like Milton Bearle, some strange hairy literal “man in a dress”.  Or like the half man/half woman who was in the side show of the carnival that visited my home town when I was 8 or 9.

Now Paris was a long way from up-state New York but just knowing that those sisters who performed at Le Carousel Ballroom were there changed everything for me and made the next few years until I was old enough to leave home bearable…

I know how sexualized the images are but it was 1960 and roles for women, particularly women born transsexual were limited to say the least.
