Why do I bother to think this putz is any better than Reagan? After all during the campaign he said how much he admired Reagan.
I truly miss Lyndon Johnson… He was the last of the real Democratic presidents. None of this damned pussy footing around. He got progressive legislation passed no matter what the potential consequences were.
He said as he signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that he might just have alienated the South for a generation. But he still signed it. That is moral courage. Granted he was wrong about the War in Vietnam…
Since his presidency we have been governed by a series of increasingly right wing regimes and ideologues.
