UNION SQUARE BUDGET PROTEST X390 (CBS) | ADVOCATE.COM

Hundreds rallied in New York’s Union Square Monday to speak out against the city’s proposed slashing of its contribution to youth shelters, including the Ali Forney Center, which provides housing for LGBT young people throughout the city. According to WCBS, the city spends approximately $12 million supporting the shelters but may be forced to halve its contribution because of a lack of funding.

Note…

12 million dollars…  That piece of shit Bloomberg spent more than that in a  few days during his campaign to buy Mayor’s office of New York City.

Tax the rich to pay for the needs of the poor.

Too many LGBT/T kids are homeless because they are throwaway kids.  They shouldn’t have to become sex workers to survive because the Ayn Randite rich are to spoiled to pay their fair share of taxes.

One would think that having lighting strike your 6-story tall graven image and having it burn to the ground would be taken as some sort of sign of displeasure on the part of the invisible sky fairy.

I mean isn’t this the sort of non-subtle message tied to a brick thrown though your window level that is hard to ignore.

Hurricane Katrina was because the religious weren’t mean enough to LGBT/T people according to the folks who show their piety by erecting giant touchdown Jesus statues.

But doesn’t this have a level of irony at least?

Perhaps invisible sky daddy is pissed off at invisible sky son or something.

Perhaps those of us who are secular humanists wouldn’t be laughing our asses off at this one if those claiming to be Christians weren’t such a bunch of hypocritical bigots.

How Dare Sarah Palin and Other Anti-Woman Conservatives Call Themselves Feminists

It’s a debate that’s been raging ever since Sarah Palin made her absurd “mama grizzlies” comments praising conservative women as the “real feminists.” Palin’s disingenuous claim that women can be feminists while opposing basic feminist ideas kick-started a surge of conservative, anti-feminist women insisting that feminists unfairly exclude conservative women from feminism.

And now Ross Douthat is wading into the fight, insisting that if conservatives can’t be feminists, then at least feminists should be happy to see so many women running for office, even women who oppose all our policy concerns. Insisting instead on the traditional definition of feminism — “advocating the social, political, and all other rights of women equal to men” — is, according to conservatives, a nasty, mean-spirited thing to do.
