This Blog Does Not Support Donna Milo

I support any Democratic candidate running against Donna Milo. Just because some one is transsexual or transgender does not make them “family” and certainly does not make them worthy of my support.

There are way too many bigoted, racist and right wing nut people with transsexualism or transgenderism out there for that to be a reason for my supporting them.

It is like how Republi-Nazis think feminist women should support Sarah Palin because she is a woman when her stupidity and politics are anathema to feminist women.

Now it emerges that Donna Milo does not support marriage equality.

From the Advocate:

Trans Candidate Doesn’t Support Gay Marriage
By Neal Broverman

Donna Milo may be transgender but that doesn’t mean the Republican congressional candidate from Florida supports same-sex marriage or is a big fan of adoption by gay parents.

Speaking Friday on Michelangelo Signorile’s radio show, Milo expounded on her far-right views. “I view marriage as a religious sacrament,” she said. “I believe that marriage… is between a man and a woman.”

Why should I ever support any Republican?  I have never met one that had the best interested of the working class in mind or that ever did a damned thing that wasn’t pandering to the corporations.

are you interested in a group blog?
antonia is hosting the space, we want as many voices as we can get the goal is a bilerico style website eventually.
but it will include GQ people.
    not jasper!
so if you are conflicted on that front i guess the fit would be bad.
    you could email toni:
    dyssonance@hotmail.com
    or me.

    it is NOT only “transgender”.
just queer, as in women, transsexuals,tg,gq.ftm, etc.
    it is very lefty.
and no comments will be allowed from detractors
    and malign people……!
    ok
    take care.

My actual politics are sort of anarchist left hippie. Toni’s alright. We disagree on a lot of things but I’m glad she is around hence the link to her blog. Funny thing is I might actually think Jasper a lot cooler if Jasper wasn’t such a trip pusher. You see I look around and I see hundreds of communities of different folks who have had their lives touched by lots of different things that have trans prefixes. I’m sure Jasper fits some where. i felt Jasper like a bunch of the “classic transsexuals” use fighting with me to cut their chops.

I’m not a big fan of gender as it seems like sex roles in a different drag.

Right now my life is really full and even keeping this blog going at the rate it is means an hour or so per day often with coffee prior to heading off for a 9-10 hour work day or at night.

I’m not too much into playing the flame wars games either. But I’ll take it under consideration.

I have read the comments on that article about Donna Milo.

I disagree with her politics and consider her an idiot for her politics. However the comments left on that news page are a real eyeopener. They are blatantly transphobic and are straight out of the BBL dictionary.

The constant accusing Donna Milo of being a deluded gay man who has refused to accept being a homosexual man by gay people, is a real eyeopener.

The blatant transphobia by the commentators against her is right into the area of hate speech.

  7. annierose55 Says:

    Suzan.

I think you know who I am as we hold diametrically opposing political views, and we have butted heads on numerous occasions. You consider yourself far left, I see myself as moderately right wing, although perhaps others might think that to be a moderate description. Nevertheless, our political discrepancies not withstanding, I am thinking that expediency of purpose might allow for some sort of devil’s bargain.

I realize that you are a miltant feminist, but I wonder if you might not be willing to help a woman of history who DOES accept and embrace the gender binary. The majority of my friends are gay although they have no inkling of my ancient history. As near as I can tell from your posts, we “trans’d” within months of one another.

I have been living quietly, successfully and happily in my life of comfort, safety and privilege for which I am NOT ashamed, having paid dearly for said privilege.

It has been said that the enemy of MY enemy is my ally. Is not Donna Milo under assault by the same forces that oppose you? Or do you see her opponents as closer to your way of thinking?

I wonder if the “same sex marriage position” is not a political “stance” much like Obama’s much declared support for LGBT rights?

BTW…The Lions are at the Gates at TGV_Advocacy and I am longer able to post.

    • Suzan Says:

You may consider yourself moderately right wing but considering how far right the center has been shifted to be considered right wing in perspective makes you at best a fascist.

The gender binary is a fiction. Created to impose inferiority and used as an oppressive marketing tool. It is much beloved by transgenders and misogynists everywhere.

The I should support Donna Milo because she is being attacked by those she threw in with argument doesn’t cut it with me. Politics trump supposed sisterhood just like they did with Caribou Barbie, Sarah Palin. Depends on who her opponents are, doesn’t it? Her politics suck but I would defend her from trashing for being transsexual the same way I say it is wrong to trash Ann Coulter for her being transsexual.

As for TG_Advocacy the one hand typers have taken over with their imaginary intersex conditions and their gender crappola.

Marriage equality is non-negotiable for those of us who are treated like second class citizens.

  8. tinagrrl Says:

Look folks — I’m now 71. there is an indefinite amount of time left. I really would like the protections for my loved ones marriage provides. I do not have that much, but with everything as far as inheritance up in the air — well, lets put it this way : MARRIAGE EQUALITY IS NON-NEGOTIABLE!!

I do not care if someone is TS, TG, LGBT, etc., etc., etc. — if they can’t see fit to protect my CIVIL RIGHTS (marriage is a CIVIL CONTRACT blessed by the Government, giving het. couples all sorts of benefits and rights) I see no reason for supporting them in any way.

It is ALWAYS about ISSUES — not “identity”. That’s why so many are disappointed by Obama — he is being true to what he SAID. He didn’t lie. It’s just that folks voted for an identity, and assumed his politics would follow. Looking at it realistically, Hillary was well to the LEFT of Obama on a lot of issues — but, the very folks who talked of issues, voted for identity (or, presumed identity).

  9. tinagrrl Says:

As my final comment on this issue — I will NEVER forget the little pro Obama, anti Hillary slogan some folks put out before the 2008 election — “bros before hos”. If anything could possibly be more misogynistic I don’t really want to hear it.

The kneejerk anti Hillary comments from supposed “progressive” folks on TV and blogs (Olbermann, “The Rude Pundit”, etc.) caused me to adjust both my TV viewing and internet browsing for quite a while.

That experience made even more clear how deeply entrenched in American society misogyny actually is.

Those who think we have reached any sort of equality should just look around a bit.
