God Tells Robertson that ‘Radical’ Obama will Bring Down America

Submitted by Brian Tashman
on January 3, 2012

Last year, Robertson claimed God told him that America’s future will be bleak because of debt and divisions, and today on The 700 Club said that God again communicated to him that financial problems and partisan politics are going to bring America into decline. Unsurprisingly, Robertson said God is no fan of President Obama: “Your president holds a radical view of the direction of your country which is at odds with the majority, expect chaos and paralysis.” Robertson claimed that the country would be devastated by an “economic collapse” and “the country will begin disintegrating.” He also claimed that God revealed to him who the next president will be, but that he is “not supposed to talk about that.”

Pat Robertson: God revealed the next president, but it’s a secret

Pat Robertson says God has told him who the next president will be — but it’s a secret.

The televangelist revealed on Tuesday that he had spent the nearly a week in prayer, asking God to “show me something.”

“I think He showed me the next president, but I’m not supposed to talk about that,” Robertson explained. “So I’ll leave you in the dark — probably just as well — I think I’ll know who it will be.”

God, who obviously isn’t a Democratic voter, told Robertson that President Barack Obama had “a radical view of the future of this country.”

“Your president holds a radical view of the direction of your country which is at odds with the majority, expect chaos and paralysis,” God reportedly said.

Rick Santorum: States Should Have Power To Ban Birth Control, Sodomy

From Huffington Post: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/03/rick-santorum-birth-control-sodomy_n_1181291.html?ref=tw

01/ 3/12

Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum, whose strong base of evangelical Christian supporters has thrust him into contention in Iowa, said on Monday that he believes states should have the right to outlaw birth control and sodomy without the interference of the Supreme Court.

In an interview with Jake Tapper on ABC News, Santorum reiterated his opposition to the Supreme Court’s 1965 ruling that prevented Connecticut from banning contraception.

“The state has a right to do that, I have never questioned that the state has a right to do that,” he said. “It is not a constitutional right. The state has the right to pass whatever statutes they have. That’s the thing I have said about the activism of the Supreme Court–they are creating rights, and it should be left up to the people to decide.”

Santorum said he also opposes the Supreme Court’s 2003 Lawrence v. Texas decision striking down a ban on sodomy in Texas and 13 other states. Even though he would not personally vote for a ban on sodomy, he said, he thinks states should legally be able to pass them, because sodomy is not a constitutionally protected right.

“I thought that law was an improper law … but that doesn’t mean the state doesn’t have a right to do that,” he said.

Missouri public library blocks websites about ‘occult’ spirituality

From Raw Story: http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/01/03/missouri-public-library-blocks-websites-about-occult-spirituality/

The Salem Public Library in Missouri along with its board of trustees face a lawsuit for blocking access to websites discussing indigenous American spirituality and the Wiccan faith

The American Civil Liberties Union and the ACLU of Eastern Missouri filed the lawsuit Tuesday on behalf of Salem resident Anaka Hunter, who was unable to access websites pertaining to the religions for her own research.

Hunter brought the blocked websites to the attention of Salem Library Director Glenda Wofford, but Wofford responded there was nothing she could do about the websites, which were blocked by the library’s filtering system. Wofford said she would only allow access to blocked sites if she felt patrons had a legitimate reason to view the content and further said that she had an “obligation” to call the “proper authorities” to report people who wanted to view the sites, according to the lawsuit.

“It’s unbelievable that I should have to justify why I want to access completely harmless websites on the Internet simply because they discuss a minority viewpoint,” Hunter said. “It’s wrong and demeaning to deny access to this kind of information.”

The library is required by law to have a filtering system that prevents children from accessing obscene images and other content that is harmful to minors.

Stoned seniors: Germany faces epidemic of hippie pensioners

From World Wide Hippies: http://www.worldwidehippies.com/2011/12/31/stoned-seniors-germany-faces-epidemic-of-hippy-pensioners/

By TONY PATERSON,Independent.co.uk -
2011 December 31

They include sixty-plus grandmothers spaced out on LSD and 70-year-old grandpas in court for dealing dope: Germany is struggling to cope with a rapid increase in “pensioner hippies” who are still hooked on drugs nearly half a century after the end of the Flower Power era.

The “stoned grandparent” phenomenon has begun to alarm legal and welfare authorities in the country’s most populous state of North Rhine Westphalia, where the number of pensioners annually convicted of drug offences has almost doubled over the past decade to around 117 each year.

The problem has prompted the launch of a scheme to help geriatric specialists familiarise themselves with addiction and old age. “Older people are increasingly turning to illegal drugs,” Gaby Schnell of the regional senior citizen’s association told Germany’s Der Spiegel magazine. “This is a new development which has only surfaced over the last few years.”

Most of the cases on record have involved pensioner-aged hippies convicted of drug related offences. In one incident, a narcotics crime squad in Dortmund arrested a 69-year-old drugs dealer nicknamed “Opium grandpa”. Officers tricked the pensioner into selling them 20 grams of the drug in exchange for €250. He was given a two year suspended sentence.

Other cases included a 71-year-old pensioner convicted of selling marijuana to adolescents in a Cologne park and a 73-year old who required medical treatment after consuming too many “hash cookies”. A recent police investigation in Solingen broke up a ring in which an 85-year-old woman was actively engaged in pushing hard drugs. Three kilos of heroin, a quantity of cocaine and two guns were found in her apartment. More…

US and European dominance in farming under threat, report warns

Call for significant increase in UK food production to counter threat of losing influence at global level

guardian.co.uk
, Wednesday 4 January 2012

The dominance of the US and Europe in global food and farming is under threat from their lack of natural resources and the rising power of China, Russia and Brazil, finds a major report published on Wednesday.

The report, commissioned by UK farming leaders, finds British agriculture vulnerable to the same trends and calls for a “significant” increase in output to counter the threat of losing influence at a global level.

However, the call for more productivity will be greeted with caution by critics who fear that farmers will use the study to put pressure on the coalition government to cut back on regulations to protect the environment and consumers.

The report, Power in Agriculture, produced a global power index suggesting that the US was still the biggest player in the global industry, followed closely by the EU. They were followed by China and Russia, and just behind them the UK. This trio was tailed by Japan, Australasia and Brazil. The index was based on data from, among others, the World Trade Organisation, the US department for agriculture, and the United Nations.

The report’s authors, the Scottish Agricultural College, said the UK’s continuing “power” was thanks to continuing political influence and strong export and import markets, but was threatened by poor natural and mineral resources. Instead the country needs “significantly more productivity” to keep its place at the top table, says the report, commissioned by the Oxford Farming Conference, which opened on Tuesday and represents major farming lobby groups and agri-business.

Right-Wing, Fox & Friends Warn Girl Scouts Promote ‘Liberal Agenda’

From Talking Points Memo:     http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/12/right-wing_fox_friends_warn_girl_scouts_promote_li.php?ref=fpb

Right-wing bloggers and Fox News have managed to squeeze in one more liberal conspiracy theory before the end of 2011.

The controversy is over a section in the Girl Scouts’ media guide that advises readers to use sites like snopes.com and MediaMatters to fact-check what they read on the Internet. Because, as Steve Doocy put it on Fox & Friends on Thursday, MediaMatters is “clearly a lefty blog,” and the Girl Scouts telling members to turn to them means they must secretly be in the tank for the left.

Glenn Beck’s site The Blaze first wrote about the guide on Tuesday, and said that it was pointed out to them by a parent of Sydney Volankski, a fifteen-year old former Girl Scout who left the organization in 2010 when she says she realized the organization has a “clear liberal ideology.”

In response, she started a blog called “Speak Now: Girl Scouts,” and on Thursday she popped up on Fox News.

Doocy asked Volanski how she “started noticing, kind of, what you would feel is a liberal agenda” in the Girl Scouts.

Ron Paul Endorses Sexual Harassment In The Workplace, Blames Women, And Says It Should Be Legal

Ron Paul has recently been trending upward in the polls and all the skeletons have come bursting out of the closet. From his homophobia to his racist newsletters, Ron Paul has been taking a beating like no other candidate. And now, he has provided yet another reason why no one should vote for him.

On Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace, Ron Paul said that sexual harassment in the workplace should be legal and that if women didn’t like it, they should get another job somewhere else.

CHRIS WALLACE: “I want to ask you about one other thing that you wrote back in your book in 1987 about sexual harassment in the workplace.

You wrote this, “Why don’t” — this is about the victims of sexual harassment. “Why don’t they quit once the so-called harassment starts? Obviously, the morals of the harasser cannot be defended, but how can the harassee escape some responsibility for the problem?”

You said that sexual harassment should not be a violation of someone’s employment rights?”

Must Women Feel Sad About Choosing Abortion? Hell No!

From RH Reality Check:    http://www.rhrealitycheck.org/article/2011/12/26/should-woman-feel-sad-about-her-abortion-hell-no

by Sunsara Taylor
January 2, 2012

There is absolutely nothing wrong, or necessarilty tragic, unfortunate, or sad about a woman choosing to get an abortion. Nothing.

Why?

Because being forced to have a child against your will is enslavement. Period.

Why else?

Because fetuses are NOT babies. Fetuses have the potential to become babies, but until they are born they have no independent social or biological existence. They are a subordinate part of a woman’s body. Any state, religious, or family intervention which forces – or even pressures – a woman into subordinating her life, dreams and health to incubating that fetus against her will is completely unjust and illegitimate. It is immoral and it is enslaving.

But what about her responsibility? If she didn’t want a baby, shouldn’t she have thought of that before she “opened her legs?”

This argument is wrong on at least four levels.

First, this suggests that it is wrong for women to have sex and that they must be punished for doing so (while applying a totally different standard to men).

Second, this approach treats children – who should be wanted, loved, and well-cared for – like nothing more than a punishment to women.
