I really wish I had an alternative to the Democratic Party, a party that represented the interests of working people instead of the corporate overlords.
I did not support Obama for President in the primary 2008. I honestly saw him as the same old, same old neo-con, neo-lib wishy washy Democratic male that the party runs more often than not.
I had seen him speak along with Biden and Reid way back in 2004. I wasn’t that impressed with him then and I am still not.
He came out of the Chicago Machine for one thing and Chicago has a reputation as being a hot bed of political corruption.
But that wasn’t really it.
I had seen Bernie Sanders and Dennis Kucinich speak and they really impressed me as people who would stand up for the common people in this country.
As a feminist I supported Hillary Clinton. If for no other reason than her actually having the courage to name the problem facing this country as early as in the 1990s. There is a Vast Right Wing Conspiracy.
We do live under corporate fascism.
Even before he was nominated Obama started pandering to the Christo-Fascists by kissing Rick Warren’s ass.
I never thought he stood for anything. He was just a TV advertisement mouthing empty slogans and platitudes, “Hope”, “Change you can believe in.” “Now at Burger King”.
Candidate by Disney, a perfect Black Ken Doll described by Biden as “Clean and articulate”. A perfect candidate for the AADD, iPod/iPhone/iPad set that requires constant electronic input and has the intellect and attention span of a gnat.
I look at Greece, France and London. I wish that Amreican kids were half as motivated as the kids there.
Instead the cancer of non-violence and pacifism has turned them into pod people. Brainless and senseless plugged in consumer bots.
Even though my generation took acid and smoked pot we also read and studied. We were really radicals. We went out and fought the cops. Not just those of us in the equivalent of today’s Black Blocs but young people in general.
Black people burned the ghettos to show their outrage with police abuse.
The military regularly had mutinies. Military personnel deserted in thousands and refused orders to fight in many more cases.
Being LGBT/TQ meant you didn’t have to go. Now we are pushing for LGBT/TQ people to have the same rights to go to foreign lands, oppress and murder people to further the interests of American corporations that straights have.
Seventy percent of American people support LGBT/TQ people in this dubious endeavor. But is Obama showing the courage to step up and push for this or has he caved in?
Of course Obama doesn’t support marriage equality either. He supports separate and unequal. His Justice Department has defended DADT and DOMA.
I remember people telling me, “But, Hillary voted for the war in Iraq.” And Obama hasn’t done squat about ending the war, in fact he just announced he is extending the War in Afghanistan until 2014.
These wars have destroyed us just like the War in Afghanistan destroyed the former USSR.
Obama has done nothing to stop the torture, or restore the right of habeas corpus. The war on terror and the PATRIOT Act keep chugging along on their un-constitutional track.
Before he was elected he said he really admired Ronnie Reagan because he ended the ”excesses of the 60s and 70s”. Reagan was one of the worst presidents ever. His regime was filled with economic disasters.
Those 1960s and 70s were actually a period of expansion of civil rights for women and LGBT/TQ people. We seriously talked about ecology and had a President who put solar panels on the White House.
There were cars that got 40+ MPG without all sorts of tricks.
We have been fighting for universal health care since the 1960s. The first thing Obama did was take “Single Payer” off the table.
This is as bad as Clinton’s role in ending welfare.
Now he supports the continuing transfer of wealth upwards to the right wing elite.

Obama reportedly agrees to allow rich bigger tax cut than middle class

Update at bottom: White House suggests that tax cuts for wealthy will not be permanent
David Axelrod, the senior adviser to President Barack Obama, says that the White House has conceded to Republicans in giving into tax cuts for the wealthy, a legacy of a Bush-era policy to reduce federal taxes for various income classes. He doesn’t, however, say that the rich should enjoy the tax cuts forever, but the decision to agree to a temporary extension of the cuts may be a moot point, because it likely will simply push the issue to a future presidential term.
In an interview with the Huffington Post, which the website described as “candid,” Axelrod served news progressives will be less than excited to hear.
“We have to deal with the world as we find it,” Axelrod said during the interview. “The world of what it takes to get this done.”

Then there were his appointments of Larry Summers and Tim Geithner. Just what we needed more free market neo-lib scum to facilitate the oligarchic feudalization of the economy into a two class society composed of the ultra rich and the servant class.
Perhaps the question needs raising. Does Obama deserve a second term?
Apparently a lot of people who voted for Obama in 2008 sat this election out.
I didn’t but very few I voted for won.
I have heard lots of LGBT/TQ people dump on the very people in Congress who have done the most for us over the years, including Barney Frank and Nancy Pelosi.
Yet it seems almost as though there is a taboo regarding speaking harshly about Obama, a man who has done next to nothing to advance the rights of LGBT/TQ people. Indeed he threw us under the bus the second he was elected just as he threw ACORN under the bus.
With this election cycle the contradictions have been heightened to the point where it is no longer just the Tea Baggers who are calling for armed revolution. Now we have people like Ted Rall.
Perhaps it is time for the left to start viewing non-violence as simply a tactic and not a core philosophy.
Yesterday a right wing troll posted a comment that was vaguely threatening about how his side had the guns.
I am not a pacifist. I own guns and I shoot. I’m old I don’t shoot competitively but I do shoot competently.
I will not be herded non-violently into anyone’s cattle car.
The weird thing is that while the Tea Baggers are focused on blaming the wrong people for their misery, mainly those chosen as scapegoats, by those running the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, they too know something is very wrong with this country.
I read Socialist Worker, Worker’s World and The World Socialist Web Site daily as well as many other sources to gather material for this blog. I am not a liberal because I consider liberals wishy-washy moral cowards unwilling to defend what they claim to believe in. I consider “progressive” a name for liberals who are too chicken shit to call themselves liberals.
I am an unabashed Leftist. I believe in Socialism, albeit it of the West European model found in Scandinavia.
I am a radical not a pacifist.
I want a different choice in the 2012 primary. I really can’t support Obama anymore. He doesn’t stand for much of anything I believe in and I would almost rather not vote than vote for him again. If I have to I will but not one dime in support of his campaign.
We on the Left need a new party that represents the working people and the former middle class people of this nation. Neither the Republican nor Democrats represent our interests. They are the right wing and further right wing party of the corporate interests and it seems like there isn’t a dimes worth of difference between them.
Bill Clinton and Barrack Obama are both far to the right of even Nixon.
