Thank you for reposting this horror. It represents the extremist end of Roman Catholic thinking on the subject. Sadly, it is a position that is incompatible with the teachings of Jesus Christ, which is the way it is with the immoral "moral theology" emanating from the bowels of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, the Curial body (formerly known as The Holy Office or The Inquisition), as it relates to the treatment of women or the treatment of gays and lesbians.

The tetragrammaton "YHWH" is a simple puzzle, and it relates to Genesis 1:27 (how we are all created in the "image and likeness of God, male *and* female."

Quite simply, God is one of us: Read YHWH backward, and the secret identity pops out - HW HY - which comes out in English as HE/SHE. The Name of God is He-She! The very insult that is often hurled at those who may not "pass" very well, is actually calling that person God-like.

Needless to say, the extremist Roman Catholic Church position focuses on Genesis 1:27 to indicate that there are men, and there are women, and anyone who doesn't fit into the "either" or the "or" in accordance with birth genitals is mentally ill.

They ignore the kerygma contained in Isaiah 56, Matthew 19:12 and Acts 8. They ignore the fact that those of us who are *different* from that cookie-cutter birth-genital-based "male=penis-at-birth*or* female=vagina-at-birth" are known by God (according to isaiah 56) to be so special, that if we follow God's laws (not the apostate Roman Catholic Church's), there is a special place for us in God's house that is better than children (and perhaps even better than chocolate).

Jesus recognizes that some people are *different* - some are eunuchs from birth, some are made eunuchs by men, and some make themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. To be *different* in the way that all trans* people are different, is a mark that we are *special* in the sight of God.

Just to make it clear, in addition to the Book of Isaiah and the very words of Jesus Christ, we have an explicit tie-in with the story of Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8 - the eunuch was reading Isaiah, and was clearly at Chapter 53 already - in the ensuing discussion the two of them managed to get to Chapter 56, at which point the eunuch asked for baptism, and Philip agreed.

But the apostate Catholic Church of today considers us to be mentally-ill perverts in need of harmful reparative therapy. Of course, as catkisser points out, this is something that occurred fairly early in Church history, in part because Christianity sought to suppress the competition.

After all, ritualized cannibalism as a sacrament doesn't necessarily compete well with either sex as a sacrament, or inebriation as a state of holiness (or what seems to be both, from Romans 1). So the Bacchic, Cybelline and Eleusinian mysteries, the worship of the Sun rather than the Son, and all the other religious beliefs tolerated under more enlightened rulers had to be suppressed.

Add to that the intolerance of those who hate and fear people who are different, and it is a recipe for disaster.

The only think I do know, is that God will judge those who treat us the way they do - and they will be numbered among the goats on the day of Judgment - when they will finally realize that their oppression of our people, who are among the least of God's people (at least in number), is the same as oppressing God. (Mt 25)

Of course, the more rational among us might point out that it's all superstition after all. But when one is treating the particularly virulent Christianist mental illness of apostate Roman Catholicism, I think it is necessary to provide these people with some reasoning within their frame of reference - and what would be better as a frame of reference than to use their own delusions to help explain how wrong they are?

There is no god.

Ignorant people created gods before they had science or understanding of how the universe worked to explain phenomena they could not understand.

Lazy men created religions to scam others into supporting them so they diod not have to work.

Religion exists to maintain the control men have over women as well as to oppress minorities.

Outside of maintaining the patriachy its main function is to prevent the poor from rising up and killing their oppressors.

The Catholic church, like all religions, is imperfect. Only God is perfect.
This is an example of the church being imperfect. I do wish that the church would take the time to talk with and survey its many members who are transgenders. Given time, I am sure that they would reverse their thinking.
Jesus ministered to those in need. Is there any needier group of people (for love and acceptance) than transgenders?
I hope and pray the church will see the Light on this one!

The catholic church as manifested in the cardinals, bishops and stepford followers is an evil institution designed by man to supress and control the population of women and minorities.
everything that threatens the hierarchies control becomes a sin, So you dare not question them as it will be a sin punishable by getting a mortal sin that will condemn you to hell
Jesus represents love and peace why isn;t that practiced instead of the fear and hate that really occurs
No thanks
God and i have a terrific relationship and she helps me through my days as i look for spiritual guidance
Love and peace

This "issue" with the catholic church goes back as far as the second century. The writings attributed (falsely) to Saul of Tarsus (Paul) that address women are aimed at the priestesses of Cybele specifically as reading the lesser known 2'nd century christian apologists make clear.

Additionally, Augustine had a relationship with a gallae (transsexual) priestess of Cybele which is alluded to in his "Confessions". After his conversion he railed that the transsexual priestesses of Cybele were "castrated perverts".

When today's alleged transsexuals question the value of the scientific studies showing the neurological intersexed nature of classic transsexuality they should refer to the article you printed here. The Church has a long history of being on the wrong side of science, this is another case. Some day in the near future all this psycho-babble and confusion of AGs with transsexuals will clearly be seen for what it is, crap that flies in the face of the facts. This is precisely why those studies are important. There are over 230 of them now. The evidence is in and the facts are clear. Transsexuality is a birth condition not a psychological one.
